Happy Holidays to you all!
I’m not sure why, but this season has me feeling more thankful than I ever have before. I think during the holidays we can get caught up in gifts to buy, money to spend, and parties to rush to. No matter how much fun the holidays are, I think everyone needs to take a second to really be grateful for the little things.
I’m so grateful for such an amazing and supportive family. I’m grateful to have good friends, a roof over my head, and food in my belly every night. I’m thankful to have the opportunity to go to school and get an education. I’m thankful for my health, and the health of my loved ones, so that we can spend another year together. So many of these simple things we take for granted but when it comes down to it, these are the important things in our lives. Not presents. I encourage everyone to really remember this during the week. Tell your loved ones how much they mean to you, not just during this time but all year.
Lately, I’ve really been trying to buy from environmentally friendly, fair trade, good for the world companies. I came across Aporta on instagram and fell in love with the amazing materials and look they had. After researching a little more I found out that they only use local resources and artists. They never import any of their material. I was already amazed by the products but those last few facts really sealed the deal for me.
The reason I’ve been trying to research new companies is because of a documentary I watched with some friends a few months ago. It’s called The True Cost. For any other fashion obsessed men/women out there I really suggest watching it. One of the reasons why the world hasn’t changed is honestly because most of us know nothing about it. So, I figure if I put the information out there, you guys can make the decision for yourselves. It’s not going to be for everyone but it’s good information to know anyways.
